One Blonde in Tokyo: Tsukiji Fish Market

Tsukiji Fish Market is the biggest Fish Market in the world, for a girl who loves to eat anything resembling a tentacle it was a must visit. It also has the best Sushi in Japan, apparently, we tested it and it was indeed AMAZING! We went to Tsukiji on Monday, our last day in Tokyo and unfortunately it was pouring down with rain. The best time to visit the market is around 5am, when the market opens and the auctions are in full swing, we however rocked up at 11am and still saw some amazing sights.

More seagulls..... because were there is fish, there are seagulls.

oooh tentacles...

Pink tentacles....

This dude had probably been gutting fish since around 5am this morning... by the time we met him, he was on the verge on insanity.... the things he did to the fish were just wrong, and luckily my friend managed to get a video.

Fish - mid gutting session...

Fish - nearly done...

Awww poor fishy....

Mmmm Sushi Menu.... we queued for around an hour in the rain to get into the restaurant, it only sat 12 and it was definitely worth the wait

My selection..... pure heaven, I could have eaten it ten times over, but unfortunately my wallet wouldn't allow me to.

One Blonde in Tokyo: Antony Gormley

Amongst all of the amazing pieces of art at The National Museum of Art, they also had a pretty cool Antony Gormely sculpture, as it was technically outside it was the only piece I could photograph. They also had a beautiful exhbition by the artist Yoshio Hayakawa. I picked up the associated book and continue to gawp at his work on a regular basis.

One Blonde in Tokyo: Imperial Palace Gardens

We walked from some random train station through the 'City' of Tokyo to reach the Imperial Palace Gardens, alot of the gardens and the palace itself is not accesible, because the Emperor is very much in residence and is only seen in public twice a year. This appearance does not happen for Lunar New Year. The city, is essentially similar to the City of London, were all the important business in Japan have offices - banks etc. However unlike the City, This are eas more in the style of Canary wharf but newer, shinier and on a larger scale. We passed through into the park, managing to get caught in the middle of a bike race - I am not sure how serious the race was and if it indeed was a race as there were several individuals on the classic tandem' bike.... When we walked into the gardens, they were beautiful. And also to look back to see the backdrop of the gardens, the palace buildings juxtaposed with the modern architecture of the city was somewhat beautiful. I also got my first glimpse of the infamous Japanese Cherry blossom, which was rather early to bloom and surrounded by people, like me taking photographs.

One Blonde in Tokyo: Tokyo National Museum

In Korea the homeless are far less apparent than any other country I have visisted. It was nice to go to Japan and see some good quality tramps.

Shrine in the gardens....

Bike family. Alot of people in Tokyo cycle, I quite liked taking photos of cycling people, I thought they were cute...

Infront of the museum....

Sweet old dude and his bike. I like its orangeness......

One Blonde in Tokyo: Things that caught my eye

Korea is a strange country, a country whose personality I am 'getting used to' so to speak, by this mean the random daily sights are becoming less and less photographed, however In Tokyo I was in camera obsessive mode and here are selection of the 'random' pictures I took, of things around and about. Things I found interesting for a variety of different reasons...

Pretty mural on a street in central Tokyo....

Mermaid poster inside bakery...

Sign on subway, I find this intriguing for various reaons. Partly because its a nice gesture, letting women have a carriage to themselves during peak hours and partly because I guess it stops women getting groped by pervy men on the way to work... What does this really say about Japanese men??

View from the bridge near our hostel is Asakusabashi..... I like boats and water

Taking photos of birds is something I have always liked doing - especially photos of seagulls

Random bunny on the street....

Random street, random house... I liked the bicycle.

Uber cool Korean dude, leather jacket, leather shorts, leather boots and a leather rucksack with very bling gold speakers!

'Please do it at home'. Good advice on the Tokyo subway...

Beautiful, if a little expensive bakery in Shibuya... I loved the way these cakes looked and yes I can confirm they tasted great.

Emporio Armani, A Church, Gucci........

Japanese dogs. Pimped to the max.

Shop entrance in Harajuku.....I liked the rabbit, very Alice in Wonderland

I wish I could ride this bus everyday.... possibly the best bus in the world.

The Japanese love graphic novels, age doesn't matter...
